I very much enjoyed your introduction to Jackie’s poem, “Misery”. I especially liked the part of her process where she found lines to “open the poem up” for the reader as well as her work in creating a character, Misery, distinct from her own self, the speaker of the poem.
"One doomed eye creaks open. Let’s.
Just like that: Let’s, and my lungs
swell with feathers." Some poems, like this one for me, save their impact 'til the end.
